About gloATL
gloATL a collaborative platform of exceptional contemporary physical experience, founded in July 2009 by Dancemaker Lauri Stallings. gloATL realizes its mission of dance at the center of creativity through highly physical contemporary performance, creative experimentation, and fostering relationships that lead to deeper human experiences and being together. gloATL’s work increasingly shares a synergy with art forms, blending classical elements with the complexity and groove of today’s rhythmic culture.. Part choreography and part interactive art installation, glo performances regularly bridge the gap between artists and audience, to explore fundamentals found in the urban world, such as being together, voluntary migration, and the “inter” human. In gloATL’s work is a vivid line which refers to the whereabouts of mankind’s existence.
Since it’s inaugural work, rapt, on Renzo Piano’s campus of the High Museum, over 60,000 Atlantans of all age, race and creed have experienced gloATL performances, an uncanny figure for an emerging organization. gloATL has been named “Best Dance Company” by Creative Loafing every year of its existence. gloATL dancemaker Lauri Stallings, alum of world renowned Hubbard St. Dance Chicago, was recently nominated for the 2012 Rome Prize for her ongoing performance experiments in response to globalization, the “movement” of our time. In the 12-13 season, Stallings will create work in New York, London and Chicago. gloATL’s home is Goodson Yard at the Goat Farm Arts Center and has just completed their 3rd season. www.gloATL.org
